English Abstract:

This paper aims to give a brief overview of Persian-Polish and Polish-Persian lexicography. The author begins with the presentation of various ideas regarding lexicography, attempting to indicate the most significant concepts and definitions of the term in question, as well as its status as an academic discipline. The term ‘dictionary’ is also defined, and several types of dictionaries exemplified later in the text are mentioned. The second part of the paper both deals with the history of Persian-Polish/Polish-Persian lexicography and describes its current situation. For comparison, three outstanding Persian-English and English-Persian lexicographic works are referred to, while at the same time providing a model to be followed by the authors of future dictionaries potentially published in Poland.
